1- Program Launcher
هرگاه میانبر یک برنامه در لیست start menu باشد تنها با وارد کردن حرف اول آن در گوگل دسکتاپ می توان آن را پیدا و اجرا کرد.

 2- جایگزینی برای کنترل پنل
به طور مثال با وارد کردن نام “mouse” و یا “Network” در گوگل دسکتاپ بدون نیاز به استفاده از کنترل پنل می توانید تنظینات Mouse و یا Network را انجام دهید.

3- نوار آدرس
با قابلیت باز کردن فایل ها , فولدرها و آدرس های اینترنتی

4- مرورگر history
مرورگر اینترنت شما معمولا سایتی ها را که شما از آن ها دبدن کرده اید را برای مدت محدودی (حدود یک هفته) در history خود نگه میدارند, اما گوگل دسکتاپ این کار رابرای شما برای مدت نامحدودی انجام می دهد و history را قابل جستجو می کند.

5- مرورگر Cache
گوگل دسکتاپ تمام انواع صفحاتی که شما با مرورگرتان دیده اید را نگه می دارد , بنابر این شما می توانید از آن به عنوان یک منبع برای مشاهده چگونگی تغییر صفحات استفاده کنید.

6- بازیابی فایل
اگر شما یکی از document هایتان را پاک کردید ( نگران نباشید!) گوگل دسکتاپ آن را برای شما در cache نگه میدارد و می توانید آن را بازیابی کنید.

7- تبدیل فایل
شما با استفاده از گوگل دسکتاپ قادر خواهید بود تا یک فایل را به نسخه فبلی آن برگردانید (txt و doc و html). گوگل دسکتاپ تمام نسخه های یک فایل را نگه می دارد. این قابلیت در مواقعی که شما از فایل هایتان بک آپ نگرفته اید به کمک شما خواهد آمد.

8- پرونده های اخیر
گوگل دسکتاپ یک تایم لاین دارد که این قابلیت را به شما می دهد تا فایل هایتان را که در زمان مشخص ایجاد شده  یا از ان ها بازدید شده را ببینید.

9- Office / PDF Viewer
اگر شما نرم افزار های Microsoft Office و Adobe Acrobat Reader را نداشته باشید می توانید با استفاده از گوگل دسکتاپ یک نسخه متنی از فایل های Doc , PDF , PPT , XLS را ببینید. اگر چه نمی توان با استفاده از آن به تمام قابلیت های این فایل ها دست پیدا کرد ولی می توان از آن به عنوان یک text viewer استفاده کرد.

10- جایگزین GMAIL

حالی را در نظر بگیرید که سرور گوگل down شده باشد و یا در آن زمان به اینترنت دسترسی نداشته باشید و در ان حال به یک ایمیل نیاز ضروری داشته باشید. خوشبختانه گوگل دسکتاپ ایمیل های شما را قبلا ایندکس کرده (در صورت موافقت شما) و شما می توانید ایمیل هایتان را یکبار دیگر به صورت آفلاین بخوانید. نکته: پیوست ها بر روی کامپیوتر ذخیره نمی شوند.
